Adopt a Bone

Students and community members helped assemble the two whale skeletons under the direction of Lee Post (a.k.a the BoneMan).

Students and community members helped assemble the two whale skeletons under the direction of Lee Post (a.k.a the BoneMan).

Each of the 363 bones that make up the Orca and Gray Whale skeletons are available for adoption by groups, families, or individuals. The names of everyone who adopts a bone, along with their bone, will be permanently displayed on a plaque in the museum.

To adopt a bone, send us a check or money order made out to OIMB and a short letter stating which bone you would like to adopt and what name(s) you would like to appear on the plaque.

The list of available bones is constantly changing as more are adopted.  Please contact cmlc@uoregon.edu to confirm the bone you would like to adopt is still available.
